Be Blessed
Be Blessed
In the fall of 1954, Rev. Finis L. Williams presented to the Minister’s and Layman’s Conferences of the Old Landmark Baptist District Association the idea of a church in the newly developed Blueridge addition.
By the end of March 1955, the church was organized and the Rev. F.L. Williams was named as pastor and founder of the Blueridge Baptist Church.
A committee from the Baptist Minister’s Conference accompanied Rev. Williams to the Office of the Project Managers to qualify for the plot of land we now occupy.
After approval and acceptance of this property, the Moderator of the Old Landmark Baptist District Association called a special meeting and one thousand dollars ($1,ooo) was advanced to erect a permanent place of worship.
On August 20, 1955, two buildings were purchased and moved on this site.
On June 29, 1960, the Lord called Pastor Finis L. Williams to be with Him. On October, 1960, Rev. Wilson Duke Richardson, Sr. was called to shepherd the flock.
In June of 1965, under the leadership of Rev. W.D. Richardson, we moved into our present building with great joy and thankfulness.
After 30 years of faithful service, Pastor Richardson rendered his resignation due to failing health.
In May of 1992, Rev. Albert Kemp was elected our third pastor. He served until 1995.
In 1966, Rev. Ceola Curley, Jr. was elected our fourth pastor. He served until 2006.
On April 11, 2008, the Lord smiled on us with our fifth and present pastor, Gregory L. Hood. How thankful we were that the church remained alive and well.
May this church be to all of us a reminder of the goodness of God now and forever; and of the many unmerited favors that He has bestowed upon us during the past years of love, dedication, and service. We pray for continuous years of blessings.
We worship you, Almighty God.
